Alright, so, I got this thing I’ve been working on – it’s a remake of the Patek Philippe Calatrava 6119R-001. Yeah, that fancy watch. I’m not a watchmaker or anything, but I like to get my hands dirty, you know? Figure things out. So, I started digging into this watch. Found out everything I could about it. How it ticks, what makes it special, all that jazz. They call it “Complications”. Sounds complex, and it is, man.

This thing, it’s not just any watch. It’s based on the old Reference 96, a real classic. And the guts of it, it’s crazy. There are like 164 tiny parts working together. It’s a lot. I spent days just looking at pictures, reading articles, and watching videos, trying to get my head around it all.

The idea with this remake is to take something old, something with history, and give it a new life. But, and this is important, you gotta keep the heart of it. The stuff that makes it what it is. So, I started planning how to remake it in my way.

Now, Patek Philippe, they gave this watch a fresh look. They made it a bit bigger, gave it this cool pattern they call “Clous de Paris”. I tried to get that pattern right, it’s harder than it looks. I messed it up a bunch of times, but hey, that’s how you learn, right?

Details

  • Size Stuff: It’s 39mm across and about 8.08mm thick. Not too big, not too small.
  • Water Thing: It can handle a bit of water, up to 30 meters. Don’t go deep-sea diving with it, though.
  • Back: You can see the insides through the back. It’s like a little window into all those tiny parts.

I tried making the case all shiny and round, just like the real one. And those gold markers and hands, man, they’re something else. Trying to copy those was a real test. I started with the big stuff, the case, then moved to the smaller things. It was like putting together a puzzle, but way cooler.

The whole process, it’s been a ride. Lots of trial and error. But when you finally see it all come together, it’s a great feeling. It’s not the real deal, but it’s my take on it. And I’m pretty stoked about how it turned out.
