Okay, so today I tried to remake a bag. Not just any bag, it’s the PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag. I saw it online and thought, “Hey, I can probably make that!”

First, I looked up a bunch of pictures of the bag. I really wanted to get a good look at all the details. This bag is a remake of one from 1995, and they call it “Re-Nylon” because it’s made from recycled stuff. Pretty neat, huh?

Next, I tried to find the material. The original bag is made of this “Re-Nylon” stuff, which is basically recycled nylon. I found a similar-looking fabric online – it’s not exactly the same, but it’s got that same kind of sporty. I ordered some, and while I was waiting for it to arrive, I started working on the pattern.

I took measurements from the pictures I found and drew out a basic pattern. This bag is pretty simple, just a few rectangles and squares. I have done sewing stuff before, so this wasn’t too hard. Once the fabric arrived, I cut out all the pieces, making sure to add extra for the seams. Oh boy, that fabric was a bit slippery, but I managed.

Then came the sewing part. I carefully sewed the pieces together, following my pattern. This bag has a quilted look, so I had to sew a grid pattern on the front and back pieces. It took some time, but I think it turned out okay. I also added a zipper at the top, just like the real one. I messed up a few times and had to rip out some stitches, but hey, that’s part of the process, right?

The real bag has this enamel triangle logo and a keyring, so I tried to find something similar at the craft store. I found a little metal triangle and painted it black. It’s not perfect, but it gives a similar vibe. For the keyring, I just used a regular one I had lying around. The original also has this leather and chain strap. I didn’t have any leather, so I just used a chain I found online. I also made a longer, detachable strap out of the same fabric as the bag.

Finally, I sewed on the straps and the little triangle logo. And there it was, my homemade PRADA Re-Edition 1995 Chaine Re-Nylon Mini-Bag! It’s definitely not an exact replica, but I’m pretty happy with how it turned out. It was a fun project, and I learned a lot along the way.

If you’re thinking about trying to remake a bag, I say go for it! Just be prepared to make some mistakes and have a lot of patience. It’s a great way to be creative and end up with something unique.

  • What I used:
    • Recycled nylon fabric (or something similar)
    • Zipper
    • Metal triangle (or something similar)
    • Keyring
    • Chain (for the strap)
    • Thread
    • Sewing machine (or a lot of patience for hand-sewing)

My final thoughts:

It was a fun ride! I probably won’t be fooling anyone into thinking it’s a real PRADA, but it’s a cool little bag, and I made it myself. Maybe next time I’ll try something even more complicated. Who knows?
