Okay, so, I got this thing for bags, right? And not just any bags – I’m talking about the good stuff, the designer ones. But, man, they’re expensive! So, I thought, why not try to make my own? Not to sell or anything, just for me, you know? A little project.
I set my sights on this Fendi Zucca Nappa Tortuga Small Spy Tobacco Moro bag. It’s a mouthful, I know. But this bag, it’s something else. It’s got this cool pattern, all Fendi’d out with that double “F” logo. And the leather? Super soft. Plus, it’s small, which is perfect because I’m not into those huge bags that can fit your whole life inside.
First things first, I had to study this bag like it was my job. I looked at every picture I could find, I watched videos, I even went to a store to see it in person. I sketched it out, took notes on the measurements, the materials, everything. I needed to know this bag inside and out.
Next up, I needed to find the right materials. This was probably the hardest part. Finding leather that felt like the real deal, getting that Zucca pattern just right, and don’t even get me started on the hardware. I spent hours, days even, searching online, going to fabric stores, you name it. I probably bought way more than I needed, but I wanted to have options.
Then came the fun part – putting it all together. I started with the pattern, cutting out all the pieces from the leather I chose. This was tricky, and I messed up a few times, but that’s why I bought extra material. Sewing it all together was a whole other challenge. I’m not a pro at sewing, but I’ve got a machine and I know the basics. Let’s just say there was a lot of trial and error, and a lot of unpicking and re-stitching.
The handles, though, those were a beast. They’re braided, and they’ve got this unique shape. It took me forever to figure out how to braid them in a way that looked even remotely like the original. But I did it. Finally. And the Spy compartment? That little hidden pocket? I even managed to replicate that!
I did it. I actually made a pretty decent copy of the bag.

- Handles, you know, not so bad.
It’s not perfect, of course. There are definitely some differences if you look closely. But from afar? You might actually mistake it for the real deal. I’m pretty proud of myself, to be honest. It was a lot of work, but I learned so much. And now I have this unique bag that I made with my own two hands. It feels good to carry it around, knowing all the effort I put into it.
It was tough, but hey, I did it!
So, that’s my story. My adventure in trying to recreate a designer bag. It wasn’t easy, but it was definitely worth it. Maybe I’ll try another one someday. But for now, I’m happy with my Fendi-ish bag.
