Okay, so, today I want to talk about something I’ve been messing around with – trying to make a perfect copy of this Fendi Nappa Spy Black bag. You know, the one that’s super stylish but costs a fortune? Yeah, that one. I thought, why not try to recreate it? It sounded like a fun project, and I was itching to see if I could actually pull it off.
First things first, I had to get my hands on some quality materials. I spent a good chunk of time just looking for the right kind of leather. It had to be soft, you know, like that nappa leather Fendi uses. I went to a bunch of different stores, feeling up all kinds of leather until I found one that felt just right. It was a bit of a pain, honestly, but totally worth it.
- Sourcing the leather – This was a whole adventure in itself.
- Finding the hardware – Those little metal bits and pieces, they had to be spot on.
- Pattern making – I had to draft a pattern from scratch, which was a real test of my patience.
Then came the hardware. Oh boy, the hardware. The Spy bag has these unique clasps and zippers, and I wanted them to look as close to the original as possible. I ended up ordering a few different sets online, just hoping they’d look right. It was a bit of a gamble, but hey, that’s part of the fun, right?
Now, the actual making of the bag – that was something else. I started by cutting out the leather using my pattern, that I did draft from the begining. Let me tell you, cutting leather is not as easy as it looks. You need a steady hand, and a good rotary cutter, which, thankfully, I had.
The Sewing
Sewing it all together was probably the most challenging part. I’m not exactly a pro with a sewing machine, but I managed. There were definitely a few moments where I messed up and had to start over. But I kept at it, and slowly but surely, the bag started to take shape.
The final step was putting on the hardware. That was tricky because I had to make sure everything lined up perfectly. A few times I had to redo some of the stitching to get the clasps and zippers on just right. It was a bit frustrating, but I was so close to being done, I wasn’t about to give up.
And there you have it! It took a lot of time, a bunch of tries, and a fair amount of swearing, but I finally finished my Fendi Spy bag copy. It’s not 100% perfect, but I’m pretty darn proud of it. It looks good, feels good, and it didn’t cost me thousands of dollars. Mission accomplished, I guess!
