So, I was looking to get a new watch, and you know how it is, once you start, you just can’t stop. I really wanted that Omega Speedmaster Professional Moonwatch, the one with the transparent back. I figured, why not? Treat myself, right?
First, I started by looking around online, just to see what was out there. You know, the usual spots. I checked eBay, hoping to find a good deal. There are many product about Omega Speedmaster on eBay. I added some to my cart, but I didn’t really find what I was looking for, then I moved on.
Then, I remembered this website, OneMall Japan, which is like a proxy service for Japanese stuff. It’s pretty neat. I searched there for a bit, they have Mercari, Rakuten, you name it. I browsed through the listings but no dice. It seems like that kind of fancy watch wasn’t really on their radar.
I even stumbled upon some Japanese website that I couldn’t really understand, the name is in Japanese. It is a website about Makita and had some tools listed. I used the translate function on my browser, but it was mostly power tools and stuff. Definitely not what I was after. I scrolled through a bunch of stuff, but still no watch. It was like searching for a needle in a haystack.
Next, I hit up Chrono24. It’s a site that specializes in luxury watches. I found some Omega watches there, but they were all super expensive, not the transparent case back version I wanted. I compared a few prices, but nothing really grabbed me.
After that, I tried a big online store in Egypt. I discovered it by chance. It’s the biggest online shopping in there. They had a lot of different products, but still no luck with the specific Omega I wanted. I filtered the results, sorted by brand, but it was like it didn’t exist. I even saw that I could pay in installments, which was tempting, but not for a watch I didn’t want.
And get this, I even ended up on a website about some kind of Japanese pipe connector thing called “Oi-sugu Flange.” No idea how I got there, but it was definitely not what I was looking for! I mean, who needs a flange when you’re looking for a Moonwatch?
Honestly, it was a wild goose chase. I spent hours searching, and I still haven’t found that darn watch. But hey, at least I got a good story out of it, right? And I learned a thing or two about Japanese pipe connectors. Maybe I’ll find that Omega someday, but for now, the search continues.
